Glenn Beck Rally, Washington, DC, 8/28/10
This was not a political rally. It was about celebrating the greatness of this country, and a cry to return us to the principles that made this country great. Another purpose of the rally was to raise money for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. The event raised over $5 million dollars for this noble cause. The mission statement of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation states: "The Special Operations Warrior Foundation provides full scholarship grants and educational and family counseling to the surviving children of special operations personnel who die in operational or training missions and immediate financial assistance to severely wounded special operations personnel and their families."
It was a very emotional event for a lot of people. Many of those in attendance had lost family members who were serving their country in the US Military. I’d say that about 3/4 of the people that I talked to either had served in the military, or had a family member that either served or currently serves their country. As I was walking around, I came upon a group of ladies sitting together in the shade under a tree. Some appeared to be in their late 30s or early 40s, and some appeared to be in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. They all had one thing in common. They all wore a rectangular pin that had a red border, cream background, and right in the middle, a gold star. They were members of the Gold Star Mothers, an organization of women who have lost sons or daughters in action.
There was many a tear shed as the various speakers gave accounts of how members of their families had been killed in action, and how the SOWF had helped them by making sure that their children or grandchildren had enough money to earn a college degree. Recipients receive scholarship grants, not student loans. Radio and television personality, Glenn Beck, hosted the event. Other notable speakers included former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin, who was there speaking as a mother of a son serving overseas in a combat position, not as a politician. Dr. Alveda King, the niece of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., also was a featured speaker. It was hot, crowded, and rewarding.
The only drawback that I saw was the lack of attendance of minorities. Others noticed that too, and expressed their regret. Every single person I talked to, and there were many, showed absolutely no racist tendencies at all. All of us would have loved having a large contingency of Black Americans and Hispanic Americans joining us. There were some, but not a whole lot. I have no idea why. Maybe they were told not to attend. Maybe they thought that they wouldn’t be welcome. If that was the case, they were 100% wrong.
I did not attend the counter rally sponsored by the Reverend Al Sharpton, who bitterly complained that Beck’s rally, on the 47th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King’s "I Have A Dream" event on the same Lincoln Memorial steps, was a denigration of Dr. King’s legacy. I have news for Reverend Sharpton. There was no denigration at all. In fact, Dr. King’s legacy and greatness was addressed by speakers and approvingly recognized by the mostly white participants. From what I saw, those so insultingly called by the Liberal Elites and their minions, the "little people," the ones that out of "desperation cling to their guns and religion" at this gathering, showed not signs, covert or overt, of racism, if there was any at all in the first place. Have Reverend Sharpton and his followers? How much money did the grievance industry make this year? What was your cut of the action Reverend Sharpton?
I felt good about what I saw. I came away with a sense of hope and rejuvenation. Does this mean that I’m going to become a religious fanatic or something of the sort? No. I’m going to still go through life as a relatively spiritual person who, even though I was raised Roman Catholic and still loves the rituals of the traditional church, does not really practice a religion at this time in my life.
I will say this. If people attending this rally were but a microcosm of a much larger group of similar minded folks, we have a great future ahead of us…provided that people like this can become the dynamic majority force leading this country again. I think that the "Silent Majority" has been asleep at the switch for too long. This and the Tea Party movement may be the waking of the sleeping giant. I hope so.

Comeuppance
I grew up in a different time than these cosmopolitans. My parents were from the so called, "Greatest Generation." My late father was born in 1917, and served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. My mother, still alive today, was born in 1920. Both of them grew up during the Great Depression, and the sacrifices they had to endure, put an indelible stamp on their personas. I was not given a "Progressive" upbringing like most of these current spoiled urban professional types. I was not brought up believing that I was special. Self-esteem was something that had to be earned. I think my generation was the last generation that was taught that there are winners and losers, and sometimes you are going to be the loser. Suck it up, and get on with your life. However, starting in the early 1960s there was a change in focus in our public education system. The education system’s policies slowly morphed from strict discipline (teachers could still spank you in front of the whole class), and tough academic standards, to a more value based education system that emphasized self-esteem over difficult subject matter. It was a process that was put into place to make sure that a small group of individuals would receive a quality education with lots of ego boosts, and that the rest of society would be "dumbed down" into a servant class.
These twenty-something, thirty-something, and forty-something egotists think they are special, because their entire life they have been told that they are special. Here they are with their advanced college degrees seething at the fact that they are not yet the plantation owners—and like lemmings falling off of a cliff, they all spout the same broken record rhetoric: It’s all George Bush’s and the Republicans fault. While they won’t admit it, they are jealous of anyone else’s success. They can’t stand the fact that some vulgar low class businessman, who makes several million dollars per year owning three or four McDonald’s franchises, makes more money than they do working for some non-profit, foundation, or in the education indoctrination industry. They want a Socialist command and control economy where no one with less education than they do will become more successful than they are. They are, after all, entitled to that success, simply do to the fact that they breathe air. Capitalism allows those that work hard and are innovative the chance to become wealthy. This aggravates the Elite Left to no end. It’s contrary to their egocentric worldview.
Karl Marx called for a rising up of the Proletariat to overthrow the Capitalist class Bourgeoisie. However, the Proletariat accepted, and joined the Capitalist class in order to get their own piece of the pie. After that, the game plan was to advance Communism through a long march through the culture institutions and a subsequent collateral brainwashing through the education system. What has transpired is a new Bourgeoisie of information age professionals, educators, public policy wonks, unionized public sector employees, etc. They have a problem however, the Proletariat, the working class and lower middle class who are sick and tired of being pandered to and insulted, have finally said enough is enough. There is going to be a huge backlash against the Progressives/Communists/Socialists (PCS)…whatever you want to call them in November. If the PCS manage to commit enough election fraud to squelch the will of the majority of the American Proletariat, I’m afraid that things could get real ugly. Marx may get his wish. There very well could be a rising up of the Proletariat to overthrow the Bourgeoisie. I’m not condoning this, but it is a distinct possibility if the "little people" have had enough. We’ll see what happens…

This November
Number one, Never, never, never, never again, vote another George W. Bush into office as President of the United States. If you want a RINO or a Liberal Republican, look for a classic New England Republican or a Rockefeller Republican. There is a big difference in mindset between a New England or Rockefeller Republican and a George W. Bush Liberal Republican. First of all, the NE or RR Republican takes a strong conservative approach to fiscal matters, and basically considers most social issues, like abortion and gay marriage, as being between a person and their conscience. George W. Bush was more interested in social issues than he was about fiscal responsibility, because he felt that he was beholden to the Religious Right. However as a side note, I will give him credit for this: The US economy didn’t collapse after the attack on 9-11, and it could have very easily. Putting it in perspective, it’s the difference between Episcopalians and Southern Baptists. I am not criticizing either religion. I’m just pointing out a difference in ideology. If you are going to bring the younger voters over to the Republican camp, you are going to have to downplay the social issues. People under forty-five today, are not living in the prude era of the 1950s. They weren’t raised that way. You can debate all you want about the benefits and problems caused by the cultural revolution of the 1960s, but the results are here to stay.
The WW II generation spoiled the hell out of the baby boomers, who then neglected Generation X, which then doted, hovered and overprotected the Millennials. This pampered generation is now of voting age, and they consider Socialism to be a good thing. They have been well indoctrinated by our Marxist controlled education system, as were their parents. The Communists started working on their grandparents in the 1960s and early 1970s, and have sowed seeds that need to be uprooted and destroyed once and for all.
Next, the Right needs to grow some balls and start kicking ass and taking names. No more Mr. Nice Guy. The Democrats, who are now nothing but anti-Capitalist Socialists and Marxists, walked all over the Republicans during the 2006 and 2008 elections. The reason for this is the American people perceived the Republicans as a bunch of wimps. We need hard ass candidates like Chris Christie of New Jersey and not wimps that won’t defend themselves like George Bush. That being said, we need to take the Left’s weapons and turn them back on them with no mercy. No more being ladies and gentlemen when we are confronting the Left. We have to expose them for what they are–anti-American Marxists that are hell bent on destroying this great nation for their benefit. Their benefit? Yes. Under Socialism there is always a highly educated ruling class, a nobility have you, that lives quite well off of the "largesse" of the less educated working class and poor while pretending to have compassion for those less fortunate. It’s all a smoke screen. Highly educated Elites, Bobos as New York Times columnist David Brooks calls them, have nothing but scorn and contempt for those that they consider lesser human beings. Have any of the social programs that the Left has advanced worked? Of course not. They were designed to create dependency and to make the Liberals feel good about them selves, while they made money in the process. Liberals need to be shown over and over again as the whores that they truly are.
Finally, it’s time for Conservatives and Republicans to sit down and read the bible of the Left: Saul Alinsky’s "Rules For Radicals". They need to use Alinsky’s tactics, which were designed to foster a Left Wing take down of the United States of America. The most important tactic according to Alinsky is ridicule, because it is almost impossible to defend against without looking weak. In another words, throw it back in their face. Remember the smug arrogant Liberal Elites constant attack on George Bush as being stupid? The implication was also that anyone who voted for Bush, or any Republican for that matter, was stupid. So what should the Right do? The Right needs to constantly show the Liberals for the hypocritical, weak, phonies that they are, and constantly rub their noses in their own shit. The more they throw their child-like temper tantrums, the more you rub. No, the Right won’t look like bullies. People are fed up with the Left right now. Exposing them for what they are, and driving them to their therapists en masse will be fun to watch.
It’s going to take time to reverse the course that the Left has taken this country over the past one hundred years, culminating with the election of the first Marxist president, Barack Obama. It’s not going to be easy, and it’s going to involve a lot of confrontation. There are going to be some show downs, and the Right has to make sure that it is in a position to win those show downs by a huge margin of victory.

McChrystal "Resignation"
I have mixed feelings about McChrystal. He is a great general and an expert at counter-insurgency. However, it's his rules of engagement that put the lives of Afghani civilians over the lives of American and Coalition forces that I don't agree with. If you are going to fight a goddamn war, fight the goddamn thing. Do what we did during World War II. We put the moral blame on the enemy for the death of their civilians, and we kicked serious ass, until we completely broke the enemy both in means and in spirit. This is what needs to be done to our enemies in the Middle East.
There is an upside to this unfortunate chain of events. General McChrystal can now apply for retirement. That can take about 60 days. After that time, he would be able to run his mouth every chance he got. Maybe we will see him every day on Fox News tearing the administration a new asshole. Let's see...starting in September and the election being in November...that's just about the right amount of time to turn the majority of Americans against Congress and the current administration and its policies. This could get quite interesting...More to follow...

The Cat Is Out Of The Bag
Keep your ears open when you are in Liberal enclaves. This is the mindset of a large percentage of the people that live in Montgomery County, Maryland, or as some of us refer to it as, The People's Republic Of Montgomery County, where these people live. It's not just limited to the Marxist radicals that populate what I call the Democratic People's Republic Of Takoma Park either. What is scary, is the fact that I know both of these people, and didn't realize that they were either part of, or "Fellow Travellers" in the Marxist remake of the United States of America. I just thought that they were typical fairly highly educated professional class Liberals. Let's face it folks, it's these Mandarins that are driving the bus that is moving the United States of America into a Socialist or Fascist (Fascism is Left Wing not a Right Wing. Do your homework idiots) ideology that benefits them and them only.
There is really a strong Communist movement in the United States that was the power behind the scenes that got Obama elected, and they are now in the drivers seat turning this great country into a Marxist dictatorship that will benefit them at the rest of our expense. Obama was installed into the presidency in order to be the closer, bringing to fruition the Socialist/Communist/Progressive coup that has been in the works since the time of the French Revolution. The leftists have been working on destroying this country for two centuries, and in earnest since the early 1900s with the biggest push happening in the 1960s.
In order to put it into perspective, let's look at the famous quote famous quote from George Orwell's book Animal Farm: "All animals are created equal, but some animals are created more equal than others." This is the mindset of the Left in a nutshell. The middle class and the poor must become equally poor so that they can be controlled. Then those that are "more equal than others," the educated ruling class, will keep the little people under their thumb for the common good. It is SOP in any Socialist country from the Democratic Socialism governments of places like Sweden, Germany, and Denmark, to the totalitarian Communist dictatorships of the former Soviet Union, Cuba, Venezuela and China. You have a very wealthy ruling class, followed by a highly educated and protected upper middle class, and then you have everyone else who is poor. Here in the United States it is a byproduct of the advancement of the move toward a Meritocracy.
There was a time when the ruling class in this country was made up of legacy old money families and industrial tycoons. Beginning in the late 1950s, the shift started toward merit rather than legacy. However, it went way too far. The division in this country is now between those that work with their hands and those that work with their brains. Blue collar versus white collar. Here in the Washington, DC area you can call it Montgomery County versus Prince George's County. By Prince George's County I mean the Prince George's County WHITE working class, not the PG County black middle class and black lower classes. The Mandarins of Montgomery County need the PG County blacks; rich, middle class, and poor, as their allies in order to attack and take down the white, marginally educated by today's standards, lower middle class and working class...in another words, the so called, "Rednecks," who just don't seem to want to get with the program. They have to be forced into obedience, and the best way to do it is through their pocket book.
Historically, this is typical. Beginning when the United States was starting to become colonized in 1608, the majority of slaves in this country were white....Yes I know, that's not the narrative that is taught in the indoctrination centers that are our schools. No, they weren't indentured servants polishing the master's silver and making the master's bed; they were slaves. Do some research and your homework. I'm not going to do it for you. Go "Google" white slavery in America.
Highly educated elitist Mandarins are now the new masters on the plantation. Their goal is to drive working class white America down into a servant class. This is just one step toward creating a world government with a ruling class and everyone else. Most of that class of "everyone else" will need to be eliminated, because it will become too expensive to keep them fed and clothed.
Why do you think that upper middle class and wealthy Liberals want food to be more expensive, utilities to skyrocket, and the price of gasoline to become so expensive that the masses can not afford these things? It's about control. When you can not afford to keep your small single family home in the suburbs due to the cost of utilities and taxes, you will be forced into "climate controlled" ghettos controlled by the Liberal Elites. What you eat will be determined by what you can afford, and since you won't be able to afford much, hunger and starvation can be used as a great motivation tool to get you to behave yourself. Why do you think that there is such a push for making more food organic? It's not about organic food being healthier. It's about organic food being more expensive, so that the "little people" will either have to eat less or have to use food stamps in order to survive. This is why I generally refuse to eat organic food.
When gasoline reaches $6 per gallon, most of the "little people" won't be able to afford to drive. They will be forced to take public transportation from their little apartment in the ghetto to their meager government job, while the Elites get to tool down the Beltway in their hybrids and SUVs (SUV for me but not for thee), uninhibited by traffic jams filled with drivers from the unwashed masses.
There is one little problem though. Marx predicted that there would be a rising up of the Proletariat against the Bourgeoisie. Back then the Bourgeoisie was the upper middle class and wealthy that made their money in hard industry. The fly in the ointment for Marx, was the Proletariat discovered Capitalism, joined the party, and became the Middle Class. Many of them became small business owners. Some of the small businesses became huge corporations, and the higher ups of those corporations became extremely wealthy. For the others, this Middle Class, through hard work, was able to earn themselves a little piece of the American Dream; A small home in the suburbs with a yard, good public schools, a college education for their children, a chance to prosper while owning their own mom and pop small business, ample food, and occasionally some luxuries. This infuriated and continues to infuriate the Left. Something had to be done. What followed was a slow march through the culture that was based on the writings of the Italian Communist Antonio Gramschi, and the Cultural Marxists of the German Frankfurt School.
Bypassing a ruling class of industrial Bourgeoisie, there emerged a cultural ruling class of academic and information age Bourgeoisie, who are now in charge and ready to take down the working classes for their benefit. The problem however, is the Proletariat are rising up, just as Marx predicted. A symptom of this are the Tea Parties.
The Tea Parties and their demonstrations are just the tip of the iceberg. Seething beneath the surface is a similar group reminiscent of the Silent Majority of the Nixon era. This group realizes the mistakes the Silent Majority made; one mistake that was made was not being proactive and always playing defense against the Left, rather than offence. Consequently, you now have at least two generations of "useful idiots" that were slowly indoctrinated into believing in Socialism by an education system that is controlled by anti-American, anti-Capitalist Marxists. You have a government ripe with Socialists that the educated classes want to keep in power for the benefit of the educated classes. Soon we are going to have class warfare in this country, but the war won't be the "little people" against the so called evil corporations. The war will be the "little people" against the sanctimonious, highly educated Marxist elitists that are emerging as America's new ruling class...a ruling class with no class, by the way. Yes, it's going to be the Proletariat rising up against the Bourgeoise. Hey Liberals, you are going to get what you deserve, and I can't wait. I'm just hoping that the Conservatives have enough balls this time to finally throw Marxism onto the ash heap of history where it belongs.

Immigration Outrage
Let's finally expose the real reasons that Liberals want as many illegals in this country as possible. The first one is what they accuse the Republicans and big business of wanting, and that is cheap labor. This is true. Every business out there looks at ways to reduce labor costs. However, the liberals want cheap labor, because they want to destroy the working class economy in this country. It's part of the move toward a one world government run by those "Citizen of the World" Liberal, Marxist, Elites. Upper middle class Socialist Elites can not stand the fact that someone with less education than they have can make more money than they do, and can afford to own property. They are the serfs who should be living in the projects. There is also a collateral reason for reducing the incomes of the working classes and lower middle class tradesmen. It means cheaper goods and services for them. If you depress wages with illegal foreign workers, you can hire nannies, gardeners and maids for pennies on the dollar by paying them under the table. That means that the middle class hippie Marxists that live in places like Takoma Park, Maryland can have a lifestyle more along the line of those that live in Potomac, Maryland. After all, they are the anointed ones. They just don't make the incomes that the upper reaches of the other members of the Mandarin caste make. In fact if you depress wages world-wide, you can have an unlimited supply of cheap labor to wipe your offsprings' asses while you play tennis at the community center. Do they make Birkenstock tennis shoes for Communists?
Also, they want cheap votes from an ever expanding underclass that is funded by the tax dollars of the hard working non-elites sectors of the middle class and working classes; unless you are a member of a minority group. Then you can be exempted from those taxes as long as you vote for the Marxist Liberals. The more the merrier.
So when are the Average Americans going to finally say enough is enough, and throw the bums out? I hope that it happens this November. Also, this time if the conservatives get control of the government again, they have to stop being so nice. You can't appease or negotiate with the those that wish to destroy this country. You have to deal with them once and for all. It's time for the gloves to come off.

Government Of The Elites, By The Elites, For The Elites
How do you become part of the Mandarin ruling caste? It's easy. Just be a highly educated liberal who believes that rest of America, especially those that earn their livelihood through manual labor are scum. It's the fashionable thing to do. The higher up the mandarin caste you go, the more liberal you are expected to be. Highly educated conservatives need not apply.
It's not about economics. A high school drop out who owns, heaven forbid, five McDonald's franchises and makes twenty million dollars per year will never be a member of the mandarin caste. In fact, he will be despised by the mandarin class. It's about education level in "certain" fields coupled with the "correct" ideology and world view. You have to hate Capitalism and love Socialism. You want Socialism in order to perpetuate the status quo. Your status quo. You climbed the ladder, and then you pulled the ladder up after you, so that the unwashed scum can never reach you on your high and mighty perch. Granted, most of the members of the mandarin caste are well educated and therefore make fairly decent incomes. In our service oriented economy, those with more education will make more money than those that don't. Lawyers make more money than clerks at WalMart . In government employment, you have to have a college degree in order to draw GS-13 or above pay, no matter what the job. The left wants to establish this caste in the private sector too. That way we can be like Europe, and have a command and control economy where your income is controlled by the government no matter what industry you work in. The problem, however, is the entrepreneur . Unlike in Europe where most small business owners and tradesmen make less than a school teacher, in our capitalistic economy that high school graduate or dropout who owns, heaven forbid, a couple of fast food franchises or an auto parts store, is going to make a lot more money than that teacher with a Masters Degree. So will an established mechanic, plumber or electrician. That drives the mandarins crazy. It's not fair.
Teaching is a mandarin profession despite its lower pay on the average from other mandarin occupations like law and being a public relations director. So is being a social worker or working for a non-profit. None of those occupations are upper middle class, yet they are mandarin, because they fit into the Socialist master plan. The small business owner is not a mandarin, and let's face it, there is a jealousy factor in place here. The mandarins on the Left can not stand the fact that the working class and lower middle class here in the United States can afford property, air conditioning, cable TV, ample food, vacations, and/or a college education for their children. These things should only be available for the mandarin Marxist Elites that know what is better for us than us. When people actually have disposable income, they are less likely to be able to be controlled by the mandarin Elite class that thrives on power, and the Left is doing everything in its power to change that. Only the educated elites should own property, have enough to eat (hunger is a great motivator to make you shut up and do as you are told), have quality leisure time, and have access to higher education.
The mandarin caste is attempting to create a society here in America that is similar to what is reality in Western Europe. Go to France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Belgium and England. You see an awful lot of poor middle class people. You have your titled aristocracy and your super wealthy. You have your highly educated professional upper middle class who live quite well. You then have your lower middle class and working class tradesmen and factory workers who live about one notch above where a ghetto welfare recipient lives here in the United States.
The problem for the elites is this: This is America. We have a large independent middle class. Middle America despises elitism and condescension. Consequently, the "peasants" are revolting, and revolting doesn't mean the Left's definition of revolting (i.e. disgusting). It means the little people are getting really pissed off and are ready for their own version of "Hope and Change." Let's hope that things start going back to normal after the November elections...and let's hope that the Republicans finally get the message and start running candidates that can win. That also means that in 2012, you don't run another George W. Bush. The Republicans need to run a young, articulate, dynamic candidate for president who can connect with the young people who stupidly voted against their best interest for the "messiah" who promised them all sorts of free stuff paid for by someone else. That candidate needs to show them in very plain English just how dangerous Obama is to the future of the young people trying to enter the job market, raise a family, and achieve their part of the American Dream.
Once the young people and the non-government, non-SEIU, non-big labor middle class is back on board and conservatives are back in power, it's going to be time, finally, to take the Socialists, Communists, and "Progressives" down once and for all. The Right needs to grow some backbone and go toe to toe with the Left...and never back down again. No more wimps. No more Mr. Nice Guy. This time it's got to be serious. I will present my thoughts as to how to restore this country in subsequent posts.

OK Hippies, So You Want To Be Like Europe
First of all, you claim that health care is a right. It's not, but I'll agree that health care is very expensive and there is always the risk that some catastrophic health incident could wipe out your life savings if you don't have health insurance. I remember the days when most people had what was called catastrophic care and hospitalization insurance or as it was called, Major Medical. For some reason routine medical care was affordable when you had to pay for it out of your own pocket. When I was a kid, if you went to the doctor a routine office visit was $10 and a house call was $15. In today's dollars, that would amount to about $60 and $80 respectively. Not real cheap, but affordable for most people. For the poor, charities were more than willing to help out. Doctors also didn't run a gazillion tests in order to cover their butts against a lawsuit. Now that 88% of the population has health insurance, routine medical care is expensive. How come? Maybe because doctors have to practice defensive medicine? Maybe because of low life scum of the earth trial lawyers? Maybe because somebody else is paying for it?
OK you putzes on the left. You got pretty much what you wanted in regards to socialized (socialist) medicine. Now the fun starts. Things are going to get real interesting. All you young pie in the sky idiots are now going to have to purchase health insurance or pay a fine and risk going to jail, and it's going to cost you a lot more money than you are going to want. Hey Obama Zombies, your carefree, hipster, arrogant, Narcissistic lifestyle is going to change. Say good-bye to the new car, IPhone, and spending your nights in trendy clubs and restaurants. Say hello to canned ravioli and Hamburger Helper, just like when you were in college; I guess that means that many of you will have to have roommates too just like you did when you lived in the student ghettos. You never thought that your standard of living would be this low after you were "promised" how great your life would become with your college degree and your information age job. Of course, you can always continue to live in Mom's basement. I'm sure that's not what you expected when you voted for your Messiah. Your utopia is about to blow up in your face, and guess what? I can't wait until life rubs your nose in it big time. It's going to be wonderful watching you go bonkers when you know what finally hits the fan.
Next let's talk about education. You all want taxpayer funded college degrees. You figure that that way you won't have to be one of the "little people," that you despise and want to control for your own prurient interests. You are fully aware that in the Socialist countries of Western Europe, those with the highest levels of education reap the highest middle class financial rewards. That's built into the command and control economic regulations. Prices and salaries are all based on what the government dictates, and salaries, including small business owner salaries are all controlled by government regulation. However, so is access to higher education. Most of you wouldn't be allowed to go to college. You are not smart enough. Throughout most of Europe, higher education is rationed by the government, because it's heavily subsidized by the government. At the end of your second year in high school, you take very difficult comprehensive exams. If you don't test well, tough shit. Only a certain percentage of the students, nationwide are allowed to go on to the last two years of high school, to prepare them for college. The rest go into trade apprenticeships. They get to be the tradesmen that live in the small apartments above their shops. For the rest of them, at the end of those two years, they are tested again, and only a certain percentage of those students go on to college. The rest then go into white collar trade apprenticeships, so they can find positions working for those that actually do go on to college...and live in little apartments above some shop in a downtown area. If say 10% are accepted into the last two years of high school, and then 10% of that 10% actually go on to college, that leaves out quite a few of you spoiled brats. That means that about 1% of the high school graduates will go on to college. Most of you will be doing some kind of manual labor job, if you can find one, and you'll be living in a little apartment above some shop, unable to afford a car, and buying your clothes second hand. Oh gee, that's the lifestyle of the urban lower middle class and welfare recipients that you look down upon with scorn and pity...in that order.
This brings us to housing. What is the average square footage of the typical American working class and lower middle class home? 1200-1500 square feet, give or take a little. Upper middle class? 2500-3000 square feet. How about in Europe? Lower middle class 600 square feet. Upper middle class 1200-1500 square feet, about the size you will find in the old blue collar neighborhoods in the inner ring suburbs surrounding our cities. Then you've got the utilities on top of that, and they are very expensive in Europe. Central air conditioning is almost unheard of, except among the wealthy. Remember all those old people in Paris that died roasting in their apartments, while their family members were spending their August vacation time cooling off at the beach? In the winter I hope you enjoy wearing sweaters and long johns 24/7, because you are going to set your thermostats at 65 degrees...Not because you are environmentally savvy despite what you claim in order to show the world that you care and alleviate your guilt, but because you can't afford to set your thermostat at a comfortable 70 degrees. Energy is too expensive, except for the wealthy.
How about automobiles? Yes, I know, look at all those enlightened Europeans riding bicycles and taking public transportation to work. Did it ever penetrate your brainwashed thick skulls that maybe the reason a fair amount of Europeans don't drive is because they can't afford to? Every time I've been to Europe I've noticed that only those from a certain income bracket and above drive cars. Most people can not afford to, so they are stuck taking public transportation, riding a bike, or walking. Unless you make the equivalent of $100,000 or more per year, you are not going to be able to afford gasoline at $8 per gallon on a regular basis. You are going to take the bus, trolley or train. If it's only a couple of miles, you'll ride a bicycle, because pedal power is cheaper than bus power. Yes, the public transportation resources in Europe are a wonderful thing. I enjoy using them every time I'm there. Keep in mind a couple of things: First of all, when private transportation costs are too expensive for the masses, efficient and cheap, due to subsidies, public transportation has to be provided in order to prevent a revolt. Secondly, people need to get to work in order to keep the engine running. Third, European style public transportation would be hard to put into place here in America, because we are not as compact as they are. There is just too much space between urban areas, and we have a huge expansiveness of outer ring suburbs and/or exurbs. America's infrastructure developed around the automobile instead of the train, because the middle class wanted a single family home with a yard. While personally I would love to see better, cheaper, and more efficient public transportation here in the States, I can't stand sitting in traffic jams, I don't think that massive expansions of our public transportation systems are going to be realized in my lifetime. If you try to force the average middle class individuals out of there homes and cars, things are going to get ugly real fast.
So there you have it hippies. This is the remaking of America into your vision of Utopia. Unfortunately for you, most of you won't get to realize the American Dream now that the Socialists are in charge. As for me, I'm one of the lucky ones. I have my little piece of the American Dream that I earned through working hard to develop competent musical skills, "selling out" for the security of a military band position that I held for 26 years, and my continuation of working hard as a freelance musician, coupled with the earned benefit of a military pension as a base to work off of. I know you feel that it's not fair that I have those benefits and you don't. Let me ask you a question: How many of you spoiled adult children with your "problems with authority" would be willing to go down the same path? The problem is, you are not willing. You want everything handed to you on a silver platter. Also, I know that the majority of you wouldn't survive one day in boot camp. You'd be crying for your mommies. By the way, your mommies and daddies aren't allowed to be helicopter parents when you are in the military. It's not like college. If you want to live like a European, go to Europe and leave America to those that are willing to work hard to achieve the American Dream. You can take your Socialism and shove it.

Welcome To Europe
We now have a health care law that even ultra-liberal sites like Daily Kos are criticising. One writer there stated that now insurance companies will be able to charge whatever they want, because they will have a captive audience. Everyone must now purchase health insurance, or face fines or jail time. Despite the anti-capitalist slant to the writer's post, he's right on the mark. This is not going to make health care more affordable. It's going to become more costly, and there will be less of it. That's exactly what it's supposed to do. Make the cost of living for the working class and lower middle class expand, so that they will have to reduce their standard of living. At the same time, rationing of health care will lead to the deaths of more senior citizens. Why would the government want them to die? Because they have what is known as "corporate memory." They remember how this country used to be. Eventually, you can kill off everyone with corporate memory, and the only ones left will be the properly indoctrinated that the Left started brainwashing in full force starting in the 1960s. Once you have an entire country believing that Socialism is the only way, you now have a permanent ruling class of educated elites and the serfs that rely on them for mere survival.
The next big ticket item that the president and our congressional leaders are working on is immigration reform. Do we need another15 or 20 million unskilled "illegal citizens" using up more social services and taking jobs away from the unskilled labor pool that is made up of our least educated legal citizens? Most of the people that make up the working poor are not smart enough to go to college. That's a cold hard fact, no matter how cruel it sounds. These are the folks that if they go to college, they go there to clean the bathrooms. However, they still provide a very valuable function in our society. They are our working poor, but they are working, and after time, they may make enough money to have a little tiny place of their own. That American Dream will be denied them. In Europe, only the upper middle class and the wealthy are able to afford to own property. Force people into poverty and make them reliant on government social programs. That way they can be controlled, and if they make too much noise, there is always Euthanasia if they become too sick or "mentally defective."
All these social programs are going to cost a lot of money, and that money has to come from somewhere. There is talk about a Value Added Tax or VAT as it is commonly called. All the socialist European countries have a VAT, and I'm starting to believe that we are next. If we are going to have European levels of safety net, we are going to have to have European levels of taxation to pay for it. This is not going to sit well with the American people. The American lower middle class does not want its standard of living reduced to the standard of living level of the European lower middle class. A small business owner in this country wants to work hard and be able to live in a nice middle class neighborhood, not in a cramped appartment above his shop. In Europe, the working classes and lower middle classes have a standard of living that is slightly above the average welfare recipient here in the States. A VAT serves two purposes. It generates the necessary monies to fuel the nanny state. It also serves as a big DMZ to keep those that aspire to rise out of their social class from doing so. It keeps the working classes and lower middle classes in their place, which is just a notch above the poor. That way they can never achieve parity with the educated upper middle classes and the wealthy. It's a rationing of lifestyle that is put in place in order to satisfy the upper middle class' thirst for power and control. Socialism protects them from the masses that they despise. American liberals are no different. They have nothing but scorn and contempt for those that don't wear a tie to work in the morning.
Health care rationing, energy rationing, food rationing, "coercing" people out of their single family homes and cars...it's all coming, and the upper middle and upper class liberals are now drunk with power. The 100 year march to Socialism will take place unless the little people finally wise up and stop it in its tracks. The midterm elections in November are crucial. The upper class liberals need to be sent the message that those that work with their hands are not their servants.

Healthcare...they did it
Of course I hear people tell me that I shouldn't talk, because I have health care for life by being retired military. Yes I do. That's why I stayed in the military for 26 years. That's why I was as these Social Justice for all phonies say, "trapped" in a job that offered health care and couldn't leave. Well, yes I could have, but the idea of having an earned benefit down the road was too great of a temptation. Notice that I said earned benefit and not entitlement. I guarantee that a lot of people wanting universal health care believe that everything in life is an entitlement. They should be able to do whatever job suits their fancy and not have to make any sacrifices and/or compromises. Well guess what hippies, sometimes you have to do something that you don't like, in an industry that you don't like, in order to get a benefit that you do like. Even though I got to do what I wanted to do by doing it in the military, which was play music full-time, it was still the military. There was boot camp, short hair, uniforms, recall exercises at 4 AM and last minute TDYs followed by more last minute TDYs that could keep you away from home, with minimal preparation, for up to three months or so at a time. There were random drug tests, fitness tests, weight standards; being overweight was the quickest way to end one's career, and a top down totalitarian dictatorship social structure, that very few of the spoiled rotten upper middle class youth of today would tolerate. It's the Socialism that they so love, without them being the ones in charge. They would get to start as the lower classes, which is beyond pale in their minds. However, I think that the real reason they wouldn't tolerate it goes beyond their obvious contempt for the working and lower middle classes. They wouldn't survive one hour in boot camp and they know it. Forcing the American people into Socialism on their terms is is the goal.
This is what Obamacare is really all about. It's not about universal health care. It's about Socialism and transforming America into a Socialist society where the educated upper middle class and above become the ruling class. The black underclass will continue to be the pawns on the chessboard that the liberal upper middle class will use as a tool to enact their agenda. Very few of them will advance beyond the ghetto. Upper middle class whites ensconced in their protected suburban enclaves will make sure of that. Lower middle class, working class, and lower class whites will become the new slave class, just like they were when this country was first colonized. This is the master plan that is behind the entire "hope and change" that we are witnessing. The question is, will the lower classes go along with the program or will they revolt? You can only push people so far. Right now I think a lot of people are waiting to see what the results will be in the November elections. However if immigration reform gets fast tracked and signed into law as the next step, it will create millions more underclass voters voting for more socialism. If then you drive the cost of living through the roof with Cap and Trade environmental regulations forcing many small businesses to close their doors there may be hell to pay. If you start forcing people out of their homes, because they can no longer afford the taxes and utilities, and they are not members of a designated victim class so they can get government relief, I think all bets are off. We'll see.

The Remaking Of America
The Tools Of Power
The linchpin of the march to power and control over the masses is Health Care Reform. If you control access to health care, you control all other aspects of peoples' lives. Why do you think Stalin and Hitler gave socialized medicine to their citizens? That way they could control who received health care and who didn't, both in access and in quality. Do you think that the Democrats and President Obama don't know this? Do you want to see a doctor? You better belong to the appropriate political party and have the right beliefs, or you are going to have a very long wait for health care. Since you are a dissenter, hopefully you will die while you are waiting. That way there will be one less voice complaining about the new American Communist government. Of course, dissent will no longer be the highest form of patriotism, but will be considered a form of mental illness. Does anyone hear the term Euthanasia?
There will be a two tiered health care system. Cuba has a system for the ruling class and tourists, and a system for everyone else. Guess who gets quality health care? Canada has a similar thing, except that it's supposedly illegal. There is national health care, and then there is very discrete, very expensive private cash only health care. Guess who gets what? It's the same thing in Britain. You have national health care for the masses, and then you have very discrete, private, cash only quality health care for the ruling class—and that's not just the queen who has her own private doctors.
Back when the British Government passed National Health Care in the 1960s, a member of the House Of Commons, Barbara Castle, also knows as Britain's "Red Queen," because of her Marxist beliefs, thundered, "No one should be allowed to pay for health care with a checkbook." However when her son needed surgery, she checked him into one of the discrete under the table, cash only, exclusive, private hospitals under an assumed name. Was she ever held accountable for that? Hell no. All the other politicians and the other "important people" were doing the same thing. It wasn't even reported in the press.
Oleg Atbashian, a graphic artist who lives in New York, and is originally from the Ukraine when it was still part of the Communist Soviet Union sums up the reason in a nutshell of why the two tiered system exists when it is supposed to be illegal:
[because of] "...the unconditional love of the parents for their children and the desire to do the best for them. The truth is, even the most hard-nosed Soviet ideologues still cheated the system when it came to their offspring. Having risked life and limb fighting for universal equality, they all ended up inventing creative workarounds to make their own children “more equal” than others. Who can blame them? They were human, even if they denied humanity to everyone else."
Do you think that our Leftist politicians, their friends and their supporters among the meritocratic, educated elite, upper classes are going to stand in line for sub-standard health care? No, the unwashed masses will stand in line. The Bobos and the politicians that the Bobos support will have their own system separate and unequal from the rest of us. The Left is fully aware of this. Rationing will mean rationing for us, but not for them.
Next on the list is the tool of Environmentalism. The purpose of this tool is multi fold. It has a tremendous trickle down effect. The environmental movement and its supporters want to see energy prices skyrocket. For the hardcore activists, man is the enemy. The goal is to eliminate as many people from the planet as possible. Of course, that doesn't mean them. Lack of access to modern technology, which requires energy, is the key to the development of the Third World. They do not want this to happen. If people don't have electricity, clean water, sewage treatment, and quality shelter, they will die from disease and starvation. That's the goal. Disease and starvation are the most efficient ways of killing people. Plus, that way the Leftist Environmental Extremists don't have to get their hands dirty in the process. They don't have to shoot anybody. Paul Erlich, who wrote the book, The Population Bomb, called for the elimination of 75% of the world's population, or that there would be massive food shortages in the Western World in the 1980s. That didn't happen. Rachel Carson, who wrote the book, Silent Spring, was influential enough to get the pesticide DDT banned. Consequently, you've had over 30 million children die of malaria in the Third World. When this was mentioned to a Far Left environmental activist, his comment was, "Well, that's a good start." The extremists don't want to eliminate all the little people. They still need a certain amount of "lesser beings" to mow their lawns, scrub their floors, serve their food, wipe their kids asses, and fix their hybrids. Anything over that certain amount are excesses, and it's the excesses that will need to be eliminated.
The goal of the non-extremist Environmentalist are not eliminating people, but keeping the poor and lower classes under collective control. How dare those people without college degrees think that they are entitled to own property, drive a car, or have air conditioning. They need to be herded into high rise, climate controlled, human habitat areas with no parking, so that they can all be herded onto a crowded bus in order to get to work. Most of the non-extremist Environmentalists adhere to the typical belief system of most of those in the Liberal upper middle classes: "We know what's better for you than you, so shut up and do as you are told. You are too stupid to think for yourself." For them, it's about Marx's "from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs." The "little people" have less need, because they are not as important. It's not right that someone with a high school education who goes into business for himself, and due to hard work (ability) is able to make more money than they do with their PhDs. The playing field needs to be "levelled." When you drive the price of energy sky high, many small businesses will fold. Many people won't be able to afford fuel for their cars. Many people won't be able to afford the electricity needed to cool their homes. As long as it doesn't affect too many of the Bobo class of "entitled" Americans, it's fine. The goal is to reduce the standard of living of everyone but them. That way the lower classes will know their place.
Another tool of power that the Left uses is food. Stalin and Mao came right out and starved to death millions of their own citizens. Who knows how many have starved to death in North Korea, but it's a known fact that people there eat tree bark and grass in order to stay alive. The "little people" in Cuba have food rationing. You are limited to three ounces of meat per person per week. The rest of your diet consists of beans and rice. This, of course, does not apply to the ruling class. When Liberals claim that more food should be organically grown, because it's healthier, they are blowing smoke out of their patoot. It's nothing but support for a $20 billion dollar a year agricultural "big business" (while they rail on about evil big businesses), that allows them to put themselves in a class above the rest of us. It's about snob appeal. A research project by Great Britain's London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, that put together the results of 50 years of research conducted by many scientist throughout the world, concluded that there is absolutely no difference in the nutritional quality of organic food vs conventional food. Organic may taste different due to it's growing methods, but it is no better for you.
Organic farming produces less food than conventional farming, and there is more loss to disease and blights, hence the price difference. If more food was grown organically, there would be less food at a much higher price. That's another way of controlling the masses. Just think, we could get more Americans to eat less hamburger and more beans and rice like they do in Cuba. Now please pass me a second helping of that $30 per pound grass fed, organically grown beef.
Having to spend more on food, means less money to spend on other things too. The Bobos love that idea. Why should the stupid people in flyover country be able to afford anything anyway. After all, all they want is a pickup truck and a 72 inch wide screen TV, so they can watch ESPN. Why can't they watch PBS and listen to the elitist Marxists on NPR? Instead those stupid average Americans are listening to Rush Limbaugh and watching Glenn Beck.
For the extremists, less food means more starvation, which means more people will die. Starvation is also a great motivational tool to "encourage" you to shut up and do as you are told. Remember this the next time some hippie rails on about supporting some Social Justice cause about starvation in the Third World. What they really want is more starvation here in the United States.
These are the tools that the Left plans on using to remake this country into a Socialist and eventual Communist dictatorship. Who benefits from this? If you look at any Socialist and/or Communist country, there is a ruling class of highly educated bureaucrats and those in the information professions, like law and education that live quite well. That is as long as they adhere to the party line. We have the potential to go down that same road ourselves if we don't derail the Socialist Express that President Obama and his Marxist cronies, are running full speed ahead down the tracks, that is designed to take down the American system of government that our founders developed over 230 years ago and establish a permanent Socialist dictatorship. Let's hope that the average American wakes up in time.

College For Everyone Is Just Plain Wrong
Because of our "dumbed down" education system, the Associates Degree from a community college is the new high school diploma. Soon, the Bachelors Degree will be the new high school diploma, and the Masters Degree will be the new Bachelors Degree. Education should never have been allowed to become that "dumbed down," but then again, education is a business like anything else, and when you look at public education, it's not just big business, but a huge unionized big business that rewards and protects incompetence. It's a huge government run monopoly that fails in its mission. It needs to be fixed and fixed fast. There are several things that need to be done.
First of all, we need to make school harder. Our schools are way too easy compared to education in the rest of the Western World. No more social promotions. No more "feel good" curricula that promotes self-esteem over real world knowledge. It's time to enact tough standards and stick to them. We need to get back to basics in the elementary level, and then in the middle school and high school levels start revamping the curricula to bring them in line with the requirements of our current and projected future employment markets.
We need to restore discipline back in the classroom. The main obstacle against learning in the inner city schools today, is not effectively dealing with the bad behavior that is inherent to the ghetto culture. There are similar problems in the suburban schools too. School districts are scared to death of lawsuits brought by parents when a teacher or administrator deems it necessary to use harsh discipline to bring a recalcitrant student back in line. Teachers and principals need to grow some spine, but that is not going to happen until the current crop of "feel good" educators gets replaced with some good old fashioned hard asses. Bring back the paddle and the strap. We didn't have that many discipline problems in the old days, because adults had some backbone, and teachers and principals were assumed to have in loco parentis authority. If you got hit in school, because you got into trouble, you got it again when you got home.
Today, it's not just the students that have no respect for the teachers and administrators, it's the parents too. Parents today are products of the Dr. Spock movement of the 1960s. They will sue a school district in a heartbeat, if their little angel who can do no wrong gets some well deserved discipline. If a parent decides to sue because their child got a well deserved ass whoopin' in school, fight fire with fire. Have the school system's attorney, who should be on retainer at a minimum, or preferably an employee of the school district, bring every bad aspect of the parent's life out in the open during the suit's discovery process. If a child is a rotten child because of rotten parenting, get it out in the open for everyone in the community to see. I guarantee there will be a lot less lawsuits if those parents are subject to a high level of microscopic scrutiny if they decide to sue. The trickle down effect will be a lot more traditional parenting and a lot less Dr. Spock. The parents will realize that the schools will not put up with their kid's bullshit, and will hold them accountable as well.
As a last resort, school districts need to establish public boarding boot camp schools for the worst offenders. Have special senior administrators that are empowered with a limited amount of judicial authority. These administrators should be able to order these habitual worst behaved students into these "motivational" institutions. If the parents don't like it, too bad. Next time do your job as a parent so the schools don't have to take that kind of drastic action. Boot camp works. I was in the military for 26 years, and I can definitely say that boot camp was a real eye opener as far as life was concerned. It's amazing how people change when they are subject that that level of discipline. They grow up real fast.
Also, we need to change the way of thinking of most industries when it comes to education. It's not going to be easy, but industry needs to stop using a college degree as a screening tool for jobs that don't require a college degree. Yes, you need college degrees and advanced degrees for many jobs. Doctors need years of training. So do lawyers and CPAs. Economists and business administrators need years of schooling. However, you don't need a college degree in order to be a web designer. You need specialized technical training in web design. You don't need a college degree to be a computer systems administrator. You need specialized technical training in network administration. You do need a college degree in order to be a software engineer. Stop blurring the lines. Once this takes place, we can revamp our education system to prepare students for real world jobs in a real world workplace. Sorry President Obama, not everyone in this country should, or needs to go to college.

College Protests
The looming threat of not being able to get a college degree is scary for these young people. I can understand why. We have become a society where credentials outweigh real world knowledge through hands on experience and practical training of how to do something. The real world knowledge comes later if at all. Today businesses are reluctant to administer pre-employment tests to potential hirees on the skills that they actually need to do a job. There have been too many lawsuits brought by various "victim industry" groups. So what else is new? The few exceptions to the rule are medical boards for doctors, bar exams for lawyers, exams for real estate agents and brokers, and CPA exams for public accountants. The trades have their own exams for tradesmen working their way up from apprentice to journeyman to master, but that's a different story. It's ok, because those trades are heavily unionized. Because of the lawsuits against practical knowledge of subject exams for people applying for a lot of white collar jobs, businesses use a Bachelors Degree as a screening tool to weed out applicants for positions that really don't require a college degree in the first place. It's a way of maintaining and perpetuating a caste system in a country where there isn't supposed to be a caste system. It's the caste system of the Bobos, and the hierarchy based on what degree you have; Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate. If you are going to wear a tie to work, you have to have a college degree even if the degree is in the proverbial subject, "Underwater Basket Weaving." If you don't, you are going to have to get your hands dirty and be part of the unwashed masses that the Elite Bobo Liberals despise. Ironically, many of those "get your hands dirty" trades jobs pay a lot more than some low level flunky white collar job. The Bobos despise that too. It goes against their sense of self-importance. In this new age of a society based on meritocratic hierarchy those with less education should never be the "haves."
The young people protesting are right about fairness. It's not fair. Life isn't fair. What they mean is that it isn't fair to them, and the hell with everyone else...free college for me, but I don't give a rat's ass about thee. These are the same young people that on a whole embrace the top down dictatorship of Socialism, because it's about "fairness." Did anyone say meritocratic hierarchy? "Why can't the evil United States be more like enlightened Europe?" I've got a great idea. Let's look at how this so called European style "fairness" will pan out. Let's look at access to higher education in other countries where the governments either provide for, or heavily subsidise the cost of a college education and see whether or not this is what these young people really want for this country. They could be in for a rude awakening. A large percentage of them wouldn't be able to attend college at all. They would move down a notch or two or three, in the meritocratic hierarchy food chain.
What the young people in this country don't quite comprehend is the fact that any time the government provides anything, there is rationing. You can't provide a quality product to everyone. That includes education. There is either rationing of the product or service itself, or rationing of the quality of the product or service, or both. The same thing will happen if the government decides to provide free college education to the masses.
Most countries that provide higher education to their citizens, have very strict requirements as far as who gets to benefit from the education entitlement. A college education is an earned benefit regulated by the state. There are very stringent exams that are taken in high school, and only the best and brightest (i.e. those that score highest on the exams) are allowed to attend college by law. If you don't "test well," tough shit. You lose. I guess they don't have to worry about Affirmative Action lawsuits.
Let's say the United States decided to go this route. Let's create a hypothetical situation: The government sets aside a certain number of dollars for funding of higher education each year. It's part of the federal budget that Congress drafts and approves, and the President signs into law. A real world scenario is that there is enough funding so that 10% of our high school graduates would be allowed to attend college at any given time. That's rationing. It's based on cost benefit analysis; those that score the highest on the exams are the most likely to finish college, so you limit the benefit to those most likely to succeed. If you are not part of that top 10% based on very difficult comprehensive examinations, you are not going to college. You are going to trade school at best, if it is determined by other exams that you are bright enough and mechanically adept enough, to learn a trade. If not, you are going into the workforce in some low paying menial job for the rest of your life. Most people in this country will become part of this mass cheap labor pool at the bottom of the social hierarchy—the serfs. Hey liberals, do you believe that in enlightened Europe there is no such thing as the working poor? If you do, you need to get your heads out of your asses. Social Engineering is built into their laws. If your parents have enough money, they can send you to college overseas, but if they don't, you are screwed. Is this what you want in this country? I know what the next question is: Won't private colleges be an option for those that can afford them? Partially. Most private colleges receive federal grant money for various research projects. In order for the government to enforce its social engineering plan, they could force the private colleges to only accept those that the government has determined are entitled to a college education under threat of witholding federal grant money whether or not private grant money and/or endowments are being used for financial aid.
Fortunately, we are still a free society and higher education is not rationed by the government. If you can get accepted into college and can find the way to fund it, you can attend. Graduation is a different matter. Today in the United States, aproximately 40% of our high school graduates go on to college. However, about 40% of college attendees never graduate for a variety of reasons. A small percentage of that 40% run out of money. It's not fair, but that's the way things are sometimes. Many of those in that predicament never explore various financial aid programs offered through the college or university financial aid office. Some get offered a once in a lifetime career opportunity that "they can't refuse." Some decide that college is not for them, and they chose a different career path. Some just can't handle the course work when you get into the higher level courses. For those for whom cost becomes a barrier, however, there are ways to get money.
Currently, there are ways to reduce the cost of a college education, but most of the spoiled youth wouldn't be caught dead exploring some of the options. Yes there are scholarships, but you are going to have to study your ass off in high school, get involved in community or church projects, and be the ultimate model citizen. 99% won't even be considered for a full scholarship. There are partial scholarships too, but you are going to still have to be exceptional for consideration. Another thing you can do is get the first two years out of the way at a community college and live home with your parents. That will save a lot of money. Oops, that means that you won't be able to spend every night getting drunk and getting laid in the dorms. There are even more vile options—vile for the lefties and hippies that is. There are heaven forbid, ROTC scholarships. The trade off is you have to look GI and wear a uniform to classes on certain days of the week. You also have to spend some time after graduation as a commissioned officer in one of the military reserves being a weekend warrior one weekend a month and serving two weeks active duty during the summer. You are required to do this for a given number of years until you accumulate enough points to meet your obligation. Yes kiddies, that means you have to give something for something. You want something for nothing.
You can even go one step further and actually join the active duty military. Have you ever heard of the Tuition Assistance Program? I used it when I was in the Air Force to pay for college classes. Depending on the education budget for the year, the services will pay anywhere from 75% to 100% of your college tuition costs as long as you receive at least a C in the course. Here's another option. Currently, the Army has a program where they will pay off your student loans if you join up. The other branches are considering similar proposals at this time too. Think about it. You come out of college with a nice big fat student loan debt, and the Army will make it go away. Plus, you have a degree, so you can sign up as a commissioned officer rather than an enlisted person. You get to be junior executive management right out of the shoot. For this, you owe them something like five years commissioned service followed by several years in the inactive reserves. Inactive reserve means you can be recalled back to active duty in the event of a national emergency or during time of war. If you go the enlisted route, you do four years active duty and then eight years in the inactive reserves. I'm sure that another thing you brainwashed brats probably don't know is that only 10% of the jobs in the military are combat related. The rest are support positions ranging from mechanics, to photographers, to graphic artists, to musicians, to lawyers, to doctors, to computer programmers and software engineers, and even to physical trainers in the base gyms. What's the down side? You have to wear a uniform, cut your hair, and...and...and...drumroll please...you are subject to random drug testing and you have to submit to authority! Yes I know, you all have a "problem with authority." That, and the military is a top down dictatorship. Wait a minute. Isn't Socialism? You would get along just fine once you realized that you were not going to be the ones in charge for several years. You would have to start as a peon just like everyone else...it breaks my cold conservative heart just thinking about it.
There is also the option of working your way through college. I know several people that took years to finish a degree that way. They would work for a couple of years and save their money. Then they would take courses part-time while they continued to work. Then they would work for a couple of years saving their money, and repeat the cycle. One of my old family doctors worked his way through medical school that way. He financed his college and medical school educations by working in the coal mines of western Pennsylvania. If you want it bad enough, you'll find a way to do it.
John Ellis, who is the President of the the California Association of Scholars and is a Professor Emeritus at the University of California, Santa Cruz has an article in the online publication mindingthecampus.com where he explores the reasons for the huge cost increase in higher education. You can not have affordable public higher education unless you have a strong business community that is paying for it through tax revenues. If you make the climate for businesses oppressive, like California has done, businesses "vote with their feet." They leave. Once they leave, they don't pay taxes to the state.
Here is an excerpt from the article:
"Unemployment in California is still rising. It just went up from 12.3 to 12.5%, nearly three points above an already bad national average. This horrendous figure is the source of California's budget problem. The huge loss of tax revenue is compounded by greatly increased unemployment outlays. If we look at the few other states that have unemployment figures well above the national average, there are obvious explanations. Michigan is at 14.6 because employment in its major industry (automobiles) has collapsed. Nevada, at 13.0, is dependent on discretionary cash at a time when there isn't any. But California is too big to be dominated by one industry, and its plight can only be explained by the state's having grossly mismanaged its affairs.
In 2007 Raymond Keating formulated a Small Business Survival Index, which is a composite of various aspects of the climate for business in a particular state: business and personal taxes, regulations, mandates, and so on. In that index California ranked 49 among the 50 states. Rhode Island ranked just above California, and its unemployment rate is 12.7. At the bottom of the Index is D.C., and its unemployment rate is 12.1.
In the component parts of the SBSI index, California ranks worst of 51 (including D.C.) on top personal tax rates, worst on top capital gains tax rates, 42 on corporate taxes, 43 on health insurance mandates, 46 on electric utility costs, 47 on workman's compensation costs, rock bottom again on state gas taxes, 45 on state and local government five year spending trends, and 47 on state and local per capita government spending. It also ranks 49 among the states on the US Economic freedom index, and it has the highest state sales tax rate too: where some states have an income tax but no sales tax, and others have a sales tax but no income tax, California has both, AND it has the highest rates in both.
In short, California is a disaster for business. The state has piled up so many taxes, regulations and mandates that businesses are leaving the state. Just this week I learned that a spare part order for my Lennox fireplace is delayed because Lennox is moving this division of its business to Tennessee. Wealthy individuals are also fleeing the state to avoid the country's highest tax bracket. When both wealth and wealth creation leave the state, tax revenues leave with them.
How has this happened? As everyone knows by now, California has a dysfunctional legislature. Already in 2003---well before the current national crisis, and when the national unemployment rate was only 5.9%---California was bankrupt, and spending was so out of control that a Governor was recalled. The legislature enacts every politically correct whim that comes into its head, loading on one mandate and regulation after another. Cap and Trade could not pass nationally, but the California legislature proudly passed its job-killing global warming bill.
That is why the state now has a budget crisis of staggering proportions, and why university students are seeing those large fee hikes. But why is the California legislature so irresponsible, not to say goofy? Well, California is extremely rich in state university campuses: the UC and CSUC systems alone amount to 33 campuses, about a third of them mega-campuses of 30-35 thousand students, with another 10 around 20,000. The mega-campuses completely dominate the Assembly districts they are in, and their large concentrations of students and faculty skew the district electorate not just to the left, but to the devoutly politically correct but hopelessly unrealistic left. Virtually all of them routinely send Democrats to Sacramento. College towns with more modest sized campuses play their part too, but mega-campuses make their districts so one-sided that in the last election UC Berkeley's Assembly seat had no election even though it was vacant: the Democratic nominee still ran unopposed. Where there is real competition between the parties the two sides keep each other honest and realistic, but when Assembly seats are so inevitably left that there is no contest, there is nothing to stop the side that has automatic electability from sliding into fantasy. Those districts provide the margin that allows an immature leftism that has lost contact with reality to control the state legislature and ruin the business climate of the state."
Hey Hippies, it's your beloved Liberals, Progressives, Marxists and Communists that are advancing the Socialism that is killing your chance of getting a college education. You are the perfect "Useful Idiots." Grow up, get a life and get your heads out of your asses. Stop supporting the people and the policies that are going to make your lives harder while advancing more power to the controlling elite class of Liberals that have taken over American society. You are suffering the effects, like the rest of us, of the slow march through the culture that was implemented by the International Communist movement over the past 100 years. The problem is, you are too brainwashed to see it. Wake up idiots. Yes I know, it's all George Bush's fault. Go back to your classes that have the word "studies" attached to their title.
