I’m sure there are some people that are licking their wounds after the defeat of John McCain and the victory of Barak Obama in the presidential election. In any contest there is a winner and there is a loser. That’s the way things are. So be it. I did think however, that the electoral vote count was going to be a lot closer. As of today, the electoral vote tally is 349 electors for Obama and 173 electors for McCain. That is a significant margin. What the American people have done here is sent a very strong message to the Republican Party: "No more George Bushes!" I can’t agree more. While I voted for Bush twice, because I felt that he was the lesser of the evils, I didn’t like George Bush. I don’t think that he was an effective president. Many people saw it the same way. It was George Bush that cost the Republicans this election, and Bush knows it. You can see it on his face when he’s been addressing the American people after the election. There is another message that is being sent, and I’m skeptical at best. I see it on some sites, and hear it from the young educated white-collar professionals and semi-professionals that make up a large portion of the upper income bracket of our service economy. They have a collectivist world citizen view rather than an individualist American citizen view and they are elated at having Obama as president. In their opinion, he will make us become citizens of the world who just happen to live in the United States. America is just another cog in the machine. We are the world as the song goes. This is a very strong move toward the one world government that the liberal elites have been plotting for years. This is a consolidation of power into their hands. It’s going to be an interesting ride.
In this election, I voted for McCain. His worldview is more inline with my worldview. I do want to take this time right now, however, to say that I offer my heartiest congratulations to President-elect Barak Obama. I hope for this country’s sake, he has a successful presidency. We need that. Barak Obama is a clean slate as a president right now, and I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt. Most conservatives that I know are saying the same thing. However, we will be watching and waiting in the wings for the time when it’s our turn again.
I consider myself to be a citizen of the greatest country in the world, The United States of America. I served this great country as a member of the Armed Forces for 26 years. I am not a citizen of the world educated elite. It offends me that I should have to share citizenship with Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez and Kim Jong Il. I’m a member of the average white person class that the educated elite holds in contempt and want to control for the "common good." My ideology lies with the "hayseeds" in "fly over country," not with the latte sipping, NPR listening, arrogant elites that now have the mandate to remold society into their world view. With the White House going Democrat, and with Democratic control of both houses of Congress, it’s now the Democrats game to lose. If the economy goes down the toilet in a year, they won’t have anyone to blame but themselves, and the midterm elections in 2010 are only two years away.
Ok, so why does this average non-elite, need to be controlled for my own good, contemptuous white male vote Republican? I am retired military, and having spent 26 years serving this country in the Air Force, I’ve lived through two Democratic and three Republican administrations while I was on active duty. The military always fares better under a Republican administration than it does under a Democrat administration, and people vote for what is in their best interests.
I’m not sure what an Obama Administration will do to the military. No one knows, except for Barak Obama. Based on history, I have a feeling that the active duty force will find themselves getting insufficient pay raises each year, and retirees will find that their pensions will not increase in order to keep up with the cost of living. This is always the case with Democratic administrations. With a Democratic controlled Congress, it would appear to be a gimme. They prefer to spend the money on domestic programs for drug addicted welfare queens and their hordes of illegitimate children, rather than spending money on the good men and women who volunteer to put their lives on the line to keep us safe.
The job of President of the United States is also two jobs. It’s also Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. How Barak Obama will perform as Commander in Chief is also an unknown. One thing for sure is a large percentage of President-elect Obama’s constituencies are anti-war, anti-military types. This is where things are going to get very interesting, and this old sarge is smiling at this possibility. From a revenge point of view, there may be a silver lining in this dark cloud. I am now going to give you one example of my "Audacity of Hope."
Barak Obama has said that he wants s a civilian security force that will equal the US Military. What this really means is anyone’s guess, but I’m more than a little bit skeptical. Woodrow Wilson’s goon squads come to mind. He also wants mandatory service of some kind for everyone between the ages of 18 and 27. This is going to get real interesting.
Ok hippies listen up. You are about to get what you paid for when you bought the "Audacity of Hope" at the ballot box. First of all, whether you like it or not, the world is not a very safe place. There is no such thing as Utopia. Get your Granola fueled heads out of your asses. You are all going to be lining up to get into some sort of peacenik service program like the Peace Corps or some other sundry organization so that you can do pacifist service and meet your mandatory obligation without picking up a rifle. There are only going to be so many slots in those kind of groups. If you are not connected to the right people, you are not going to get in those programs. Therefore, you will either be joining the military, or Obama’s domestic security force. Either way, you are in for a rude awakening. On one hand, you just might find yourselves in Malaria infested parts of Africa as part of UN peace keeping and nation building activities. On the home front, you just might find yourselves being called in to maintain law and order any time there is a "disturbance" like a protest that the Obamamesiah determines is not in his or his administration’s best interest. Again, Woodrow Wilson’s goon squads come to mind. It will be real interesting to see hippies who couldn’t get a slot in a program building Tony Rezko style public housing projects being ordered to beat the shit out of protesting hippies, and if you refuse to beat the hippie, you will be the hippie facing the firing squad. After all, mutiny is mutiny, and mutiny is punishable by death. The "goon squad" will be forced to turn against their friends and brethren in ideology. Remember in the Civil War that it was brother against brother? Hmmm…
That’s the domestic end of it. How about the other side of the coin? What’s going to be real interesting too, is going to be seeing how the patchouli scented unwashed Phish followers, Vagina Monologuers and Deadheads now in the international peace keeping/ nation building forces are going to deal with boot camp. Let me tell you, it’s no fun. I’ve been there. Air Force Basic is considered to be a little less demanding than the other branches of the service, but when I went through back in 1977, it was still very rough. It was much rougher in the years before that. Of course when I went through it, everyone there was there because they were volunteers. Boot Camp is going to be a lot harder when they are training recalcitrant individuals who don’t want to be there in the first place. Let’s face it, you couldn’t get into the Peace Corps, so now you are in the Marine Corps and you are pissed.
What our training instructor told us in Basic was that when you have an all volunteer force, punishment pushups, digging holes with teaspoons, cleaning toilets with toothbrushes, and being set back in training, or even the threat of being set back in training, is usually enough to keep people in line. When you don’t have an all-volunteer force, you sometimes have to resort to physical coercion techniques in order to force compliance to orders and directives when individuals who are there against their will, are not cooperative. I would love to be a fly on the wall when some spoiled anti-military elite, who is stuck doing military service because he just didn’t have the right connections, finds himself being backhanded across the face or slammed against a wall, because he forgot that the first word out of his mouth is "Sir." Another famous boot camp disciplinary tactic is the punish the entire unit when one person screws up. Sometimes they will punish everyone except for the one that messed up. This usually leads to a late night blanket party. One way of doing group punishment is to herd everyone into the shower area and then turn the water on hot and dump a few gallons of ammonia and bleach in there mixed together, and then close the door. The fumes become unbearable after about a minute, and within another minute, everyone is vomiting all over the place. All that mess will now have to be cleaned up afterward too. They will be bringing back what is called, "Motivation," which is a unit where the worst of the uncooperative are sent. If you are sent down to Motivation, you will wish you were condemned to the lowest circle of Hell for all eternity instead of being there.
Ah, the revenge. Just think hippies, you are also going to find yourself living the elites dream of collectivism taken to its fullest extreme. You will find yourselves with shaven heads so you all look the same, in uniform so you all look the same, marching every where you go so you move as a unit rather than as an individual, and you will be subject to mandatory drug testing. You will also be forced to bend to the will of the military elites, not the academic or legal elites that you identify with, who in this situation are the NCOs and officers who are higher up the food chain that you are. You are actually going to get a taste of your own medicine. Gee, that’s going to suck. You are no longer important. You are a nothing. You are no longer special. You are nothing but a worthless piece of shit that hasn’t earned the right to even call yourself a human being. You are actually going to have to do what you are told to do and not question it. Don’t you just love authority especially when you have a problem with authority? I can’t wait to see it happen to the spoiled little adult children who have been brainwashed into the ideology of social justice. Mommy won’t be able to hire a lawyer for you either. You won’t be able to sue the big bad grumpy sergeant, because he kicked you in the ass or pushed you down a flight of stairs. They own you. You’ll just have to put up and shut up just like you want the rest of us to do. Oh and by the way, if you continue to be a real problem child or decide to just up and leave because you don’t like being there, there is always the Uniform Code of Military Justice, a court martial, and a place called Leavenworth.
The very people that venomously screeched about Dick Cheney being able to get a student deferment during Viet Nam, and George Bush supposedly using family connections to get into the Air National Guard are going to find themselves doing military service against their will. Will they be screaming about their fellow liberal brethren getting preferential treatment allowing them to serve in the non-military services? That’s what I call social justice. As the Obama supporters say, "It’s a new beginning."
